Brazil is home to an abundance of diverse and exotic tree species, renowned for their exceptional durability and beauty, with unique characteristics, environmental benefits, and sustainable practices associated with this remarkable decking material.

 

Native Brazilian woods, such as Ipe, Cumarú, etc. possess remarkable strength, resistance to rot and decay, and natural insect resistance. These characteristics make them perfect for outdoor applications, particularly decking.

 

In recent years, concerns about deforestation and habitat destruction have led to a heightened focus on sustainable sourcing. Our company recognizes the significance of preserving the Amazon rainforest and adheres to strict sustainability guidelines.

 

We exclusively source native Brazilian wood from certified forests that are managed responsibly, ensuring the long-term viability of the ecosystem.

Our decking materials come from forests certified by reputable organizations such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA).

 

These certified forests follow rigorous standards to protect biodiversity, maintain forest health, and respect the rights of local communities.

ANGELIM-AMARGOSO
Vatairea paraensis

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Glowing yellow when fresh, darkens considerably to between orange-brown and dark brown with a yellowish green shimmer. Fibre orientation mostly straight to irregular, slight to strong tendency to interlocked grain, wood of a coarse texture.

CUMARU
Dipteryx odorata (Aubl.) Willd. - Leguminosae Papilionoideae

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Yellowish brown heartwood distinct from a very pale brown sapwood. Distinct growth rings, grain interlocked, texture medium to fine, luster lacking and not distinctive odour.

IPÊ
Tabebuia spp. - Bignoniaceae

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Heartwood dark brownish olive to dark olive, generally uniform, sometimes greenish due to lapachol, distinct from the pale yellow sapwood. Grain interlocked, texture medium, luster moderate or lacking depending on the species, characteristic odour and not distinctive taste.

GARAPA
Apuleia Molaris

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Lemon yellow when fresh, darkening to light brown over time. Fibre orientation straight to interlocked. In terms of colour and structure a predominantly homogeneous wood with a fine to medium texture and high specific gravity, wood pattern varies from simple to decorative depending on the fibre orientation.

ITAUBA
Mezilaurus Itauba

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Yellow-greenish brown when fresh, but soon darkens to a golden or coffee brown in air and light, sometimes streaked with blue-black dots. Fibre orientation straight to slightly interlocked. Itauba has a dense and slightly oily surface which is only slightly shiny. In terms of colour and structure, a predominantly homogeneous wood with a fine to medium texture and high specific gravity.
